>>11811838The idea of being a general in control of your army was good on paper, and it's actually pretty amazing how much the AI can learn for an NES game, but the execution is a bit lacking in the sense that most players are just going to pick 3 other guys as main rather than using everybody and switching often like the devs wanted. Unironically Akuma-Kun, an anime licensed RPG by Bandai, did the whole "general in charge of your small army" better than DQ4.
Anyway there is a gameshark code to be in control of your party in the last chapter however it takes away the possibily to switch characters mid fight.
