>>11816224>b-b-butYeah I don't give a shit. I forgot it was called Anime/Random, boo fucking hoo, it still existed primarily for PORN. The first dispute, within the week of the site going up, was over 4chan almost getting dropped from its provider for guro and lolikon.
The only actual stated intention in making it by moot at the time was to have @4chan.net as his email address.
>>11816241>"m-moot said">posts wikipediaThe wikipedia page is one that has since been severely edited to include a lot that wasn't there 20 years ago and that line about how it exists to "discuss anime and manga" is just made up by the wikipedia editor.
The only citation that should be relevant is the one to the 4chan FAQ which does not say that. At all.
The second citation, a fucking Irish Times article of all things, also doesn't say that.
The final article is a Forbes one NOT written by their usual writer for Japanese media, which erroneously claims 2ch as an "anime forum" (it's not) and then claims with zero citation, that "Poole originally founded 4chan as a place to chat about anime and Japanese culture".
Here's what moot said in his 2005 update to the SA 4chan thread.
>I started 4chan when I was very bored, in need of porno, and wanted a cool email address (especially because I couldn't register pant.su ). The immediate result was a cool 2chan clone that provided me with all such things, but a few unwanted side effects, the predominant one being ANIMU OTAKU KAWAII BAKA NEKOS-TAN-^______^-PYO-NYOs. Said people are complete wastes of human life and made running the site hell not only for me, but the original users (RH), and people like C_V and shut who tried to help with the burden. The end result was the site dying multiple times, with its final (READ: IT NEVER DIES) death on June 20th, 2004.Moot stated it for everyone to see. He made it for porn and an email address, and anime fans congregating there was an unintended and unwanted side effect.
