You absolutely need a stick, and with it you need to smash your hand against all the buttons simultaneously to trigger the most important mechanic of high level play. It ruins the game.

Some characters you can get by fairly well on Saturn model 2 pad, other characters, you really have to play with stick. Same in all Capcom 2d fighters from their golden era (1994-2002)
