Every survival horror game i played after REmake never really recaptured the magic for me. The other games were way too straightforward and easy compared to it. But Dino Crisis recaptures that feeling of truly surviving with limited resources while solving puzzles and navigating maps. Shinji Mikami is a genius.

Yeah it's great, I love the game, though sadly it has a lower skill ceiling for the action (gunning and doding) compared to the RE games

Why do they not want to remake it like RE2? Are they afraid of getting copyright claimed by Universal or something?

The classic RE formula was pretty much the best thing possible for these old school survival horror games. Most should have just outright copied RE desu and further emphasized the resource management mechanics for their games. So in a sense they just about perfected the genre with the very first RE game imo. Not sure if you should call Shinji Mikami a genius though since he kind of looks down on the old games these days. We can appreciate his work still but his opinions now on these games kind of suck.

I disliked trying to find and match different passwords and stuff and you had to remember (write in notepad) some of them and type them as they were not memorized somewhere in-game.

None of the yt reviews mention this so I presume they just googled the correct password anytime they didn't have it when they found a door.

Not one of them mentions anything about having to remember or take notes of stuff on top of just finding keys so that means they just googled the passwords when they got stuck. Tho the last time I played there were less of these parts where you had to remember the passwords than what I previously recalled. Many other games store the important passwords etc in a sort of notepad you can read in-game.

Ho-ly cope. The passwords are simple words related to the things they unlock. Normal people remember those things after seeing them once.

Also, reviewers googling (I assume you mean Yahoo'd) the solutions to puzzles for a game that hadn't even hit the market??

I wish I felt the way you do, OP, because for me DC1 is a thoroughly boring game.
I absolutely love DC2, though. DC2, RE3 and RE4 make up this weird trilogy of a very specific kind of action game I really enjoy.

This. The only really good thing about DC1 are the cutsccenes. They are pure, charming, schlock.

You have to play both Dino Crisis games to feel satisfied cause one is throughly unsatisfying to play, but has a good story. And the second game is the exact opposite
