Just got the 1CC for Rastan. Pretty great but tricky game. Pretty fair for an arcade game outside of two bosses which are pretty tricky to down. The teleporting sorcerer was a pain until I experimented enough to know its blind spots. Then the round 4 Warrior boss and how it wants to engage with you. Round 5 and 6 bosses are pretty easy considering the round 3 and 4s.

Great arcade game overall.

I did this with no deaths. The game fucking sucks. Just has awful controls, laughably poor bosses, horribly inconsistent and unbalanced RNG item drops, unbalanced enemy damage, tons of bugs, some of the jankiest jumping mechanics, and the absolute worst hitboxes in existence.

>Just has awful controls
The controls aren't bad at all. You can attack and move at the same time, then you have a jump, jump attack, downward thrust jumping attack, and a crouch attack along with a high jump holding up and pressing jump. It's all very responsive.
>laughably poor bosses
There's about two or three easy bosses and that isn't too bad. Older games are based around bosses with simple patterns and exploiting them anyway.
>horribly inconsistent and unbalanced RNG item drops
I've had consistency when you do a similar action against a similar enemy group, but if you linger around then you might have enemies randomly spawning into the screen thus you're pressured to progress. Most item drops don't really matter. The big ones which are weapons are never randomized and are laid across the levels.
>some of the jankiest jumping mechanics
They really aren't. Maybe getting use to how to tackle slopes, but that isn't a big deal.
>and the absolute worst hitboxes in existence
That's mostly the downward thrust, sometimes you might take damage, and it isn't too much of a deal. You'll rarely whiff an attack.

You seem like a drama queen.

Dude, shut the fuck up. If you know so much about the game to think these are non-issues, you would have a no death clear too.

I have played more than you, which is why I know about these bullshit issues.

This game has the best soundtrack though. Holy fuck the BASS on this thing. Especially the first stage.

The game has cheap parts where you can't help but take damage though. Which whether or not you like it, puts it into what most people would call the quarter sucker category.

You have a life bar and you get a minimal refill between levels along with sometimes getting health drops (Golden ram heads giving you a full restore). You can get out of a lot of sections unscathed, but you have a life bar if you get unlucky.

I agree, I love the outside and interior tracks. Also the jingle when the boss is about the show itself.

Rastan is full of soul and it was released in 1987 when games were less polished.

I first played this as a very young child (needed one of those step stools they kept in arcades back then). Decades later, that theme still pops in head from time to time. Good stuff.

Looks like the levels are rearranged. Looks good, but not a 1:1 game from the arcade.

Rastan 2 might not be anywhere as good, but I do like the concept of a melee game with blocking. Using your weapons to fend off falling debris or deflecting enemy attacks is cool. Too bad the game forgot about slopes and is super blocky with inferior level design from the first game.

The master system port is fair. Highly recommended.

congrats. not a game i have patience for to even bother trying to get 1cc.
> Pretty great but tricky game.
let's be real: it's a bastard of a game. first version of this i played was on the c64. i loved the music but the game was trash. i thought:
> arcade must be better than this?
> gameplay still painful
i don't get it.

>The controls aren't bad at all.
they're notoriously bad. they were so bad that even the computer ports got the same sloppy controls just to emulate the arcade version.

i like rastan 2 because its a lot easier even though its clunkier
arcade > pc engine > genesis
its a shame pc engine never got the original rastan but legendary axe 2 is somewhat similar gameplay wise

Legendary Axe 2 is awesome. Fun platforming, moody graphics, decent challenge.
Rastan 2 though? I can't believe they looked at the graphics and thought "this is acceptable". The gameplay does not make up for it.
