>Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 have a distinct aesthetic that can be best described as classic, high fantasy with a touch of grimdark.
Would you like your little dark ages to be aligned to this kind of world?

Love me dark fantasy. I want liches and skeletons and roads lined with hanged men

Forgotten Realms is more like Renaissance without guns than dark ages. Both Baldur's Gate games really capture that. What I love about the Baldur's Gate games is that they don't have a generic aesthetic. The pre-rendered graphics really bring the world to life with iconic set pieces.

The way things looked and felt was the reason I didn't abandon BG2 when I gave it a try for the first time. The game was unknown and hard to me, but I could sense there was something there.
