What I like about Joust is how its controls are on the brink of being too sensitive. You often get into situations where you can't control your momentum and you die, but sometimes you pull off some really precise movement to kill three dudes and a row and it feels amazing.
Any other games like this? Other than Balloon Fight.

>>11814892 (OP)Would you consider bumper styles games similar enough?
>>11814892 (OP)not as good as Joust but DragonHawk
Skill ceiling on this game is insane. You need to be able to visualise numetous flight paths, not to mention watching the whole screen to anticipate enemies that are screen wrapping. Williams made a bunch of twitchy games like Defender, Sinistar, Robotron, absolutely fantastic games.
Joust fascinates me. The concept is like some acid trip you'd see painted on an album cover.
Out of all single-screen arcade games I find that there is none finer than Joust.
What an elegant game. There is no improving it, no "remastering" it.
I just fucking love ostrich mounts
joust is so much better than balloon fight it's unreal
Has Joust been tried in 3D?
>>11814892 (OP)I played the shit out of this one SNES and the Sinistar game. I was actually good at Joust and never beat Sinistar. I weakened him a few times but never got the kill. I forget what other games were that cartridge. It was an arcade collection but those two games shined and got many hours from me!
>>11814892 (OP)Some guy recently made an entire tabletop RPG based on Joust, it looks pretty good
>>11815424I like how player 1 and player 2 have different ostrichs.
>>11815424Is that armor on their legs or are those mecha cyborg ostriches?
