regardless of Atari's competence in the computer market, their machines had SOUL.

what are your favorite games / machines?
strictly Atari computers only.

Dungeon Master on Atari ST.
it literally pushed sales of the machine entirely on its own and for good reason, it got the design spot on and is the template for the entire genre.

Nta but Wizardry didn't have point and click objects manipulation gameplay. Dungeon Master is a proto immersive sim, just without actual 3D engine.

the 800XL is peak for me. I was a smug Commodore 64 fanboy until my friend got an 800XL and took great pleasure in showing me all the Lucasfilm games that mogged my C64 hard.

No shit, 400 was supposed to be the next gaming console after 2600 until it mutated into a full computer.

What would be THE game to play on these systems, something worth setting an emulator up for? A best of the best game.

Wow me.

not an easy question to answer. the machines cover from early 8-bit 16kb models to the 32bit Atari Falcon030.
each machine has its own "wow" games

Is this thread about the "Atari Home Computers" (aka the 8-bit family) as the OP's image conveys, or the whole range of products carrying the Atari brand?

If you can stomach vintage CRPGs, check out Alternate Reality: The City. Incredibly ambitious game, it was supposed to be a series of interconnected games where you could import characters to and from of, but only The City and one side game, The Dungeon, were finished.
