Unlike Resident Evil which sounds like they didn't really know what they were doing, for Silent Hill I see intent and actual direction, and that direction being "make it sound like a David Lynch movie". Everything I can think of about the dialogues in the first Silent Hill, from the writing/wording, the pacing of the voice acting, the unique way it feels like the characters aren''t having a natural conversation, but also the camera angles and editing during those conversations, feel like they're straight out of Lost Highway or Mullholand Drive.
It's so obvious to me that I always wonder why noone else notices it. People are very quick when it comes to throwing everything on the "lol bad video game VA" pile though.
