i mean, yeah, the graphics are great, and it's goddamn hilarious, but the changes E.V.O. makes turns it into an actually good game

>and it's goddamn hilarious
I cried at the beginning of the second chapter when carnivorous cockroaches brutally eat that little amphibian family alive. You find the son searching for the Flower of Evolution, and you see the poor guy dying, asking you to lie to his mother and say he's doing great. Then the game tells you those damn cockroaches are heading north, and when you arrive, you only read the mother's lament about seeing each of her loved ones eaten alive. Then you lie to her, and she dies with the false belief that her little son was okay and at least lived his life.

This game is not 'goddamn hilarious', what's wrong with you?

It's truly fucked up that "biology" never became a mainstream game influence and is limited to like 4 titles. This is the perfect medium to explore it.

t. no empathy
When I read a book, watch a movie, listen to a song, or play a video game, I empathize and feel it inside my mind; and that makes me alive, which is why I enjoy this stuff.

If you can't do that, why do you even bother? According to you, it's nothing but a waste of time watching pixels moving around, isn't it?

Requiescat in pace, Amphibian family.

SNES' E.V.O is not even a port but a butchered spin-off, that queen bee bullshit was stupid and the story has nothing to do with the PC-98 game at all. I bet it was Nintendo bullshit all over the place.

I haven't play this tho, but I watched a youtube video as this Anon >>11816094 and I thought it was funny by how that jewtube present its walkthrough but I didn't know stuff like this >>11816090 but let's be real, I don't see myself playing a forbidden Japanese game exclusive to an 80s obscure system, I'm not in the spectrum lol enjoy it, I guess?

That's not a comedy bit, its to show one of the failed evolutionary dead ends you can get. There is a bad ending for one of the human choices which is sort of a comedic bit where it just states humanity reaches the same outcome as our current world instead of an enlightened species.

that's not one of the dead ends, though. you can achieve the human endings going through the paths goblins or elves, or even dino-men. the dead ends just straight up give you a fake game over and set you back to the evolution menu.

NTA but SNES game actually makes good use of the evolution system that the whole game is built upon.
The PC98 game has great art (on cutscenes at least) and a batshit crazy plot, but I like the more down to earth (no pun intended) approach too, the in-game graphics are prettier, and again, gameplay and mechanics are definitely way more fleshed out than the first game.

It isn't obscure to anyone into retro games and not really even that unusual. It is just a proprietary MS-DOS PC that isn't IBM compatible.

It's the other way around. Games like this and Megaten were influenced by concepts that were around floating around, there was a big "occult boom" in Japan and magic stuff became big in pop culture. I always assumed SMT probably had some rederences to Aum Shinrikyo, I know Evangelion originally did apparently. Even Earthbound, the KKK looking cult I think stems from Aum or Happy Science.
And that stuff isn't even new. The backstory of the Conan the Barbarian stories starts with Atlantis sinking, and is directly influenced by Helena Blavatsky's claims. Robert E Howard made it clear he was writing fiction and not making some new claims about history, since I guess fantasy was still a new concept for people. Ironically enough, Conan books did likely directly influence all the lizard people conspiracy theories decades later.

Yeah the SNES game is awesome and is VASTLY superior to the original mechanically. And it does have a pretty crazy story of its own, though the original is very hard to live up to in that respect. I think it's easily the better of the two. The PC-98 one is an interesting and worthwhile experience but an awful game.

consciousness is a product of the brain. all the evidence that exists shows that, and there is no evidence to suggest otherwise. we are as we evolved to be(see, back on topic), and you have a really weird obsession with "new age" and linking it with the group of people who are statistically least likely to believe in it. frankly it seems almost fetishistic. are you touching yourself to the thought of this made up pagan atheist?

God even in the Bible is just reality. Everything, to be exact. It is quite miraculous that anything exists at all, begging the question "well then, what created God?" Which is a question that can be also said for what causes energy to be condensed into a singularity, more importantly, what causes energy at all? A God of sorts is needed, regardless of cyclical questioning, that's part of the infinite. Cyclical infinity seems to be the paradox of God or reality, or everything.
