He was supposed to be Mario's replacement. Younger, better, faster, stronger.

Smash was best when they introduced characters like Ice Climbers, Captain Falcon, Ness, Marth etc. Characters that were unknown to most at the time but dug into Nintendo's past. I wish Nintendo would dig more into their obscure past characters for Smash instead of [insert most popular 3rd party franchise here].

Eh, i would say the pre Radar Scope arcade games are more obscure. Skipper atleast got referenced on the GameBoy Camera(along with another pre DK game), had an Atari 2600 port and is available right now on the Switch through Arcade Archives series.

If you want obscure as fuck, there were those exclusive snes games from Nintendo only made for a air lines in-flight service(and possibly hotels) of which 3 are known to have been made, but we really only have access to one of them(an elaborate version of tik-tac-toe).

Nintendo had a real problem with aping the Namco's style wholesale back then, and it's especially noticeable in the posters and cabinet art.
It'd be hard to bring back Stanley or Sky Skipper without shining a light on that fact.

Yes and no. I just had an idea for a Stanley game and tried to talk about it here. I wouldnt call that autism but maybe unhealthy obession.
But the art that i use are mostly from /smbg/ fans who made art for sm trophies and possible new fighters. Thats the autism you might think of.

I wished Stanley at least got references. For example you should have been able to find his Greenhouse in Super Mario Odyssey. Though at least he was referenced in Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.
