A sadly slept-on era for SNK, all because "SNK Playmore isn't really SNK" in the same vein that Square Enix supposedly wasn't Square

I mean, it's more because 2D fighters as a whole weren't that popular in the 00s anyway, let alone SNK which was always more niche in the US. Even 3D fighters weren't that popular. Tekken and MK kinda reigned because Soul Calibur being talked about kindly ended with 3

It's been in a limbo between Fightcade/Neo Geo and Steam. Now you can play XI online, really the reputation for it has always been good. NGBC sounds cool but I never got around to trying it.
As for MI… I'm just not interested. Felt like they forced the series into 3D to copy Tekken. And the designs have agreed like milk, Falcoon was never good. Why bother when I have 98, 02, XIII, or even XI. I'd just rather play Tekken, SC or VF if I wanted 3D.

Snk in general is massively underrated due to all the heat they took from gaming journalists who were butthurt snk could consistently pump out great fighters

NGBC continues to be the most underrated crossover fighter of all time. Absolutely stellar roster full of characters new to the genre and interesting reworks for returning fighters like Hotaru. Outstanding soundtrack.

KoFXI also fantastic, a shame most people haven’t had a chance to play it. As nice as the HD sprites in XII were, I think the classic sprites of XI strike the perfect balance of detail and variety.

I'm not a tag fighter guy myself, that's why I prefer the order-based system.

It's kind of odd, there was this pervading tone around discourse among core SNK fans back when how it "just wasn't the same" post-bankruptcy and the affixed Playmore, yet the games of that time individually were all well regarded if not lauded, even back then. NGBC in particular quickly became known as "SNK's Capcom Fighting Evolution, but good," and even scored highly with journos. I wonder, thinking back, how many people were even aware of the negligible-to-moot change in management (Playmore's president was the same as SNK's; Playmore was basically just a pachinko fallback). People acted like it was tantamount to the Square-Enix merger though, as made analogous in the OP.

Wish they didn’t give her that special. She’s fun to use but chuds just can’t get over funny super orgasm. Good thing it’s all online these days and not people you know.

I've known people irl who were familiar with her clearly erotic super animation and found it comical. If you don't think the average person has a dirty mind then you don't get out much.
