Wait… hold on... what?

The best Serious Sam game... is a console exclusive?

Nah, can’t be. Must’ve read that wrong. Maybe they meant “the best version is on PC but the console one’s decent”—you know, like every other shooter ever.

But no... they meant it. The BEST Serious Sam... of all time... locked away on some dusty Xbox like a forgotten bottle of Mountain Dew Code Red behind the couch?

Amazing. Stunning. Truly the Dune of gaming revelations. Next you’re gonna tell me the definitive way to play DOOM is on the 3DO with that horrifying soundtrack, or that Tetris peaked on the N-Gage.

It's like slowly realizing your favorite pizza place only serves slices at the airport terminal you’ll never visit.

Bravo, universe. You win this round.

Classic. The timeless, brain-melting “AI post” reply. The ultimate non-argument argument. No explanation, no critique — just the digital equivalent of squinting suspiciously at the screen and muttering "computer detected" like a paranoid grandpa afraid of his microwave.

Imagine dropping a whole thoughtful reply — maybe even with soul, personality, some typo seasoning — and some dude slides in with “AI post” like they cracked the Da Vinci code.

No details. No receipts. Just pure, distilled suspicion in two words. Probably typed on a $12 keyboard covered in Dorito dust while nervously side-eyeing ChatGPT like it's hiding under the desk.

Beautiful. Timeless. Of all time, even.

Ah, here we go — the modern forum mystery novel.

"Is it a person? Is it an AI? Is it... some guy on a phone charger generating nonsense at 3 AM?" Like the ghost in the machine is sitting there, tapping out posts about Metroid and FFVII in-between bouts of existential dread.

The best part is how every weird post is now blamed on AI. Long post? AI. Short post? AI. Slightly off opinion? AI. Mentions “of all time” for the 400th time? Definitely AI. Never mind that human beings have been derailing threads with esoteric nonsense since 2003 — no, this time it must be the machine uprising.

Soon someone will trip over their own keyboard and the thread will whisper:
"AI detected."
The new digital witch hunt.

I loved playing through this once, but I cannot fathom returning to it (or trying any other SS game) due solely to the kamikaze yell. It would be one thing if it was just a rare occurrence, but those dudes are in 90% of the game's fights.
>AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...
You're just going to hear it over and over and over. I can hear it in my head right now, solely from playing this one GCN version of the game a single time. I can't even imagine how tuned out dudes who've played these games for years must get. I don't think turning the sound off or playing the PC releases with the sound file removed would even help; it's like I would subconsciously know the yell was still there, and I'd still be hearing it in my head, and it would almost be more disturbing than just confronting it outright. Sorry, I just don't have it in me.

You should download Darkwatch instead. The Gaycube couldn't literally handle it.

Also another thing that sucks about this Serious Sam game is that coop doesn't save progress unless you use save states, but that's like an odd quirk of 6th gen games.

No you do not, just like you don't need to use save states to save progress on plenty of other 6th gen co-op games like Halo, Timesplitters, Dark Alliance, Gauntlet Dark Legacy and uhh basically every other game. Some emulators have issues saving multiplayer progress, that is not part of the games on original hardware.

Yeah you don't know that much and I didn't say every single 6th gen game. Wolfenstein's coop campaign on Xbox notoriously doesn't save progress.

Also you seem butthurt, but I'll admit it was a problem that DID go into 7th gen, but the only game I can recall that also didn't save coop progress was COD World at War. (Another WW2 game)

Yes it is, some don't even support save states, like Lodgenet OoT on PJ64.
>>11823703
You said that it's an "odd quirk of 6th gen games" not to save co-op progress, when tons of them do. If a particular game didn't save progress, it was an individual choice likely based on the length of the game, not a widescale problem. Also
>you're le butthurt
I'm correcting you, because what you're saying is a gross mistruth.

I've emulated a lot of PS2 era games coop and a lot of them weird quirks. For example, the Ubisoft Tom Clancy games require you having already played through the campaign, so you either have to enter a cheat code that unlocks all the levels or get a save from Gamefaqs. Some games like Onimusha 4 and Urban Reign lock co-op behind cheat codes and progress. Then, a few others like Serious Sam and Wolfenstein don't save your coop progress at all.

It's for FPS purists. It's an arcadey game with literally zero story with a random guy running around and racking up tons of kills with fun weapons in cool abstract environments while running and dodging projectiles and enemies. It's the antithesis to all the military shooters that ruined the genre at the time. Serious Sam might as well be a shmup but in first person. You might just not like FPS as a genre in its most basic form if you don't like serious sam. If anything medal of honor and call of duty is what's "generic" to me and serious sam is a rarity that we don't get anymore.

but anon, my favorite FPS games are Doom, Quake, and all modifications/descendents of those engines, and still I found Serious Sam boring.
I agree that MoH and CoD and all that shit are worse, don't get me wrong. I just don't see why I would ever play SS if I'm looking for an old school FPS fix.

The Atlantis levels are some of the most visually impressive in the entire series, the combo system is cool, and I like how you actually get more content for getting the gold medals. It's a console exclusive, but I think it had a lot of good ideas that the future games in the series could've incorporated. It's a shame they didn't.
