tomba was advertized in like every magazine, and yet nobody remembers him. seemed he was primed to be a mascot of the timeframe of anime becoming a big thing to kids in the states having a very cliche look including pink spiky hair but it wasn't enough to propel him even beyond the likes of croc or gex in remembrance

few cared for 2D, everyone was hyped for 3D
>but anime was becoming popular
You people always think anything anime was selling like hotcakes. It was just a new niche, but a niche still. Tomba isn't much of "anime" and most jarpigs that weren't Square didn't sell that well in America. It wouldn't sell much unless it was DBZ

I see a lot considering. Someone recently spammed tomba for weeks.
It's an okay game iirc, haven't played since 99 but I remember it being a little janky.

I just think he's not that compelling of a design for a protagonist. Who the hell wants to play through a platformer as Blanka's shitty little brother?

Is it true one of the demo discs had the full game on it? I think i was lied to by a brown man at a used game store.

It just feels like random shit haphazardly thrown at the wall with no unifying theme or hook to tie it all together.

Pic related *might* be what he was talking about. It's only speculation on my end since I've never confirmed it for myself, but this demo of the game ends on a timer of I think 10-15 minutes. There might be a way to shut the timer off using a Gameshark. No idea how to do it or if it's even really possible.

Love this game. Played this and the sequel back in the day. Have ton of great memories of it. I replayed the first several times over the years. It's great. Makes me sad no other game tried the same formula of metroidvania + adventure + action + semi-openworld. in the same way.
