Got myself a flight stick and decided to revisit these babies from my childhood. RA1 is nigh unplayable even with a stick, terrible controls. Thankfully they fixed it for RA2 and the sequel is a much better experience. Fun game you can finish in a day

Most of the levels are on-foot, and those where you do actually "pilot", you follow linear corridors to shoot enemies and dodge obstacles, with no need for a flight stick. If you want to put your flight stick to use, go play X-Wing Alliance.

I've been playing the PlayStation version of RAII and I hate it so far. Got stuck on the bit early on where you crash at the base - it doesn't work well with controllers; seems much more designed for mouse and keys, which is what I first remember playing the demo on and really liking. Maybe I'll try the PC versions.

RA1 is better with a mouse rather than a joystick.
It still will be frustrating and dumb yet easier.
