>levels are much more colorful and vibrant rather than garish and harsh
>characters and enemies look miles better
>backgrounds actually make sense (eg captain's cabin instead of some random wooden poles, underground levels actually look underground, dungeons are no longer just pure black, etc.)
>scrolling has no artifacts like on NES
>Overworld looks way better
>UI looks way cleaner and got rid of the retarded $ sign for a coin symbol
>can skip the long, slow dialogue from the toad for the chest minigame
>can actually save
>can view hammer bro type on overworld
>the kings are actually Mario characters instead of random OC abominations
