An elf out of place in a human world would actually make for a compelling story. Easily more interesting than any LoZ has ever been.

I think I respect it more for it's ambitions. On paper it's a worse game than TP, but I appreciate what WW tried to do more than TP as a whole.

I was pissed that like half the trailer shit didn't end up in the game. No wandering in the lost woods like illustrated, I got farmer link for an hour tutorial instead. Still a good game after that but I didn't want to play it again.

I legit thought it was going to have a ton of immersive sim things in it. They showed off the dark forest with the lantern, an arrow bounce off the shield even when it was on Link's back not drawn, ect

I didn't like the three 3D Zeldas at the time so I was ranting that the games should bring back the difficulty of the NES games instead of being so boring and easy like they were at the time.

Not awful for a single playthrough, but have no desire to go back. Arbiter's Grounds is legit in top ten for series dungeons.

What were your favorites in the series?

Zelda 2's Great Palace, Tower of Hera and Swamp Palace in LttP, Eagle's Tower in LA, Dodongo's Cavern and Water Temple in OoT, Tower of the Gods in WW, Lakebed, Arbiter's, and City in the Sky for TP.

Only other Zelda I played was Link Between Worlds, but I genuinely don't remember anything standing out, aside from the boss of the Desert Palace that required the Sand Rod to make platforms. Never got around to Ages/Oracle, or Minish, or any console release after the Gamecube.

My only exposure to the fact that this game existed was Midna fanart.
I feel like you had to be invested in the Nintendo scene at the time, which was at a low ebb, to really have taken note.

I had fun with Skyward Sword's dungeons and gameplay, but I also believe series veterans or old folks won't be impressed, so I'm not going to recommend you go out of your way to try it.

In the form of massive SNES/N64 nostalgia, yes, it was. In terms on new releases? DS is really what brought Nintendo back to the forefront.
As I said, I'm sure this was huge news to those into Nintendo at the time, but as someone who wasn't, Gamecube might as well have not existed.

HD version significantly shortens the triforce hunt, and adds a turbo sail so you dont have to use the wind waker every time to change wind direction
