Would condition be a concern for you to buy your favorite game?

Obviously the game needs to fucking work, otherwise I'm demanding a refund. I've had to do that for a lot of CD games I wanted to play, I could just pirate it but there's something to be said about having legit copies of your favorite games.
That shit in your picture is just shell damage, you can replace that and the sticker for like $8 off of aliexpress.

if the replacement parts/pieces or labels arent expensive or hard to get then no. Otherwise it 100% makes a difference

Depends what said condition is. That being said, what the fuck happened to that game? That's not a chip or crack, that's an intentional cut.

It looks like it got chewed by a dog. The plastic was probably malformed as to prevent the cartridge from going into the system, so he cut the offending bit.

in that condition? hard pass. but..

> be me 12+ years ago
> have red sapphire version
> bought it for $5
> perfect condition
> nice!
> still have it in 2025
> see someone selling same cart in "retro game store": $200
what the fuck happened? how the fuck is this now worth $<some random high amount>. it's a good game, but not $200+ good.

I collect lose carts and aslong as the end label is legible and the cart is intact, I don't care what the front label looks like, hell it's even saved me money on a lot of games
but for my favorite game (MUSHA) I made sure I got a pristine copy.

i have no fucking idea I look at the prices rise of my shit and it's a dopamine kick but at the same time it makes me not want to collect for another console when I'd like to. I knew I shouldn't have sold my saturn games a decade and a half ago.

I have a lot of old SNES and NES games that I bought used and I think the old rental store stickers and kid's names scrawled on them in marker is pretty SOVLFUL. Cracked cartridge is a dealbreaker though.

I have a lot from old mom and pop shops, a few of the games have "Bee Kind, Please Rewind" stickers on them for some reason. I also have a lot of those cheap cardboard sleeves for NES games I got from Funco. Collecting used to be cheap and fun.

Nerds grew up and got good jobs and decided paying 30 dollars for a loose Super Mario 3 wasn't a big deal. A few viral stories about extremely rare games (like Stadium Events) being sold for tens of thousands of dollars and all of a sudden, games became an investment. The old Nintendoage forums have a lot of blame for this.

My favourite game is SM64. I bought a copy which is a little beat up for my Japanese N64 because it was cheap. I wouldn't buy your pic related though, not unless you want to re-shell it or something, but then it's not original.

I also wouldn't buy a game if somebody used sandpaper or something else very rough on the pins. I bought a copy of Yoshi's Story online and was disappointed when I saw that, because I ain't putting that shit in my N64.

I mean general use I get but fucking sandpaper?
Like my outrun carts seen some real play; but fucking sandpaper? Were they corroded and it's a cheap form of recovery or what?

it's just incomitance, really. I recall back in the mid 2000-2010's there were tons of "guides" that were basically just:

Use this abrasive / corrosive cleaner or item to clean the contacts on your games.

They'd end up stripping the gold plating and be like "see how clean it is now!", not realizing what they have done.

People just repeated that as truth and did it for whatever game, regardless if it needed cleaning or not. I've known retro game stores that did this as well.

The amount of people on this board who don't know Japanese is genuinely sickening. The laziness of native English speakers is unparalleled.

really ridiculous honestly
people are whack and then have the gall to charge out the ass
also I know you meant incompetence but incomitance is really fucking funny here.
