That's like the most Zelda games on a Nintendo console

I like the n64, it's nowhere near Nintendos peak, it's closer to it's nadir

>Worse library then SNES/NES/GC
It's still a good weird little library, but outside of the virtual boy it has the worst library of the /vr/ Nintendo systems. Maybe you could say GBC, but even that could Olay the gam3boy back catalogue

1987-2001 was Nintendo's peak in terms of creative output and quality games, but I personally love the N64 era the most too.

I'd include 1981-2001. You're leaving out Donkey Kong and Super Mario Bros. Super Smash Bros. Melee was their last true AAA banger.

Yeah but I didn't want to include 1981-1986 tho because really I'd just be putting them there for Donkey Kong, SMB1, and Zelda 1. Those are huge games obviously but I'm not too familiar with Nintendo's Famicom and other arcade releases during this time to include it as their peak.

Why don't people make homebrew N64 games? That's so much cooler than making random indie 2d trash or that port of Symphony of the Night on the Genesis (literally why)
Imagine if someone actually tried to make Metroid 64. Or FF6 for N64 (FF6 had a 3d demo at one point)

The N64 can barely render a couple hundred polygons with textures before it needs at least 30fps. Just because we have easier tools and more docs doesn't mean we will suddenly make 3D models of everything that have to be low-poly and have low-res textures due to the hardware.

PS1 offers MUCH more freedom and ease of use, and much more space.

Wasting resources on pointless shit, that probably filters a great deal of the small amount of people capable of it.

>Why don't people make homebrew N64 games?
I assume less nostalgia, more work, the 3D was too crude, not as much interest over 3rd/4th gen, and some like working within the limits of the older systems.

That being said there was a N64 game jam last year.

It was just a tech demo, doesn't mean they had any plans to actually remake FF6. It was likely not even running on N64 hardware considering the system not using CDs was a major reason they left for Sony.

Looks like it would’ve been really awesome. The n64 desperately needed some jrpgs this would’ve been pretty damn cool. Also is that Terra? They spent a lot of time on that ass for a tech demo lol
