The story of Langrisser is simple, but the great pacing and legendary soundtrack make it extremely addictive to play and memorable. The maps are full of enemies and this contributes to the great epic scope of the game. The original version has permadeaths, but later versions have removed them, for the better of the game since the generals were never that many to begin with and given the difficulty of the game.
Tactics Ogre on the other hand has a more complex and overarching story. It is a "political" game. It has permadeath (although not as harsh than, say, Fire Emblem) but you can recruit generic units as well. It has some historical merits being the first SRPG to feature verticality in maps and the "non alternate turn system". Memorable for the setting, the equally legendary soundtrack, and the high difficulty.
