all eras are creative, otherwise the industry stagnates like the modern AAA industry. indie has been the place to be for the last 20+ years, which is arguably what microcomputers and cheap console licenses are good for.

A lot of "creativity" in the video game space is actually just ripping off movies. This continues to this day, where you have games like Sifu that are trying to ape Oldboy and that's just from the small movie knowledge I have
