Why do Saturn 2d fighters look better than Dreamcast 2d fighters?

Like Alpha 3 looks WAY better on Saturn than Dreamcast.

If you like 2D gaming you basically need a saturn with RGB. It looks so fucking clean it's insane. It's hard to showcase how good it looks in person online.

Saturn Zero 3 is a native 240p.
Dreamcast Alpha 3 has a 384x224 picture upscaled to 640x480. Since it's not an integer upscale the picture has ugly uneven pixels. DC A3 (or 3rd Strike, or both, I don't remember exactly) can be set to 240p but it is just a downscale of that ugly 640x480 buffer, not a native 240p.

Marvel super heroes vs SF on Saturn looks better than MvC2 on dreamcast which is a blurry mess, even at 480p.

Saturn had a dedicated 2d engine in a time where games and developers all jumped on the 3d bandwagon. It's kinda sad because 2d games can look so good, but everyone wanted to be trendy and made ugly polygon graphic.

Because they are in the wrong resolution on Dreamcast.
I guess many of them are also in wrong resolution on Saturn too, technically, but it just cuts off some lines, so the assets all look the same. The Dreamcast is unevenly scaling them.

Didn't the same thing happen with the Darkstalkers games?
Then PS2 got a collection but has input lag, then Resurrection happened but doesn't support SD resolution.

Because Dreamcast can only do native 4:3 esque resolutions and while it can do 240p, it just crunches badly scaled 480i to the former, hence why there's uneven pixels on all Capcom ports even those who can be played at 240p, because it's simulated, the main engine is rendered at 480p which 640x240p which means graphics had to be badly stretch in Nearest neighbor

If we're only talking about the Capcom games, it's because the Dreamcast resolutions aren't scaled properly for them.
UNLESS you hold Start and L before the Capcom logo appears to get the 320 x 240 native resolution.

320x240 does not match the CPS2/CPS3 resolution which is 384x224. As other anons said, DC just scales its fucked up 640x480 picture down to 240p which barely looks better.
