If you personally think graphics are a big dear, you are retarded and your opinion doesn't matter. I'm not talking about sales practicality or why it didn't sell well.

The problem with Wind Waker is that it's WAY TOO EASY. It is impossible to lose or suffer or die in this game. The entire game is autopilot, and in that way, it's not a video game at all.

Video game which are too easy are not video games at all. They are like an interactive DVD menu, or interactive movie.

I mean, a big problem with this game is also the long as fuck triforce shards fetch quest. Which is partially mitigated in the (not /vr/) HD remake.

Ive never had a problem with the artstyle and no 3D Zelda games are difficult really so that doesn't matter to me either. For me the problem is its low dungeon count and how for 3 of its 5 dungeons it reuses the same gimmick of controlling someone else with a tedious song. Statues in Tower of the Gods, Medli and the korok fucker. You're telling me they could only cook up 5 dungeons and couldn't even come up with unique gimmicks for all of them? It's genuinely pathetic. I also just can't look past the parts of the game that are so blatantly unfinished, like just getting the pearl from Jabu Jabu for free along with pretty much the rest of the games story too. You see Tetra like twice before she becomes Zelda and then you just never see her again. Ganondorf just has no real presence either.

I think the ocean and it's islands are poorly designed as well. For one, the game will not let you sail outside of a set, straight line until you're over halfway through the game. If you try to the boat literally tells you no and forces you to turn around. And then even once you are free to explore you'll find that almost every island requires a key item you probably don't have yet so you just can't do anything and you wasted your time sailing to it. Sometimes this isn't even made immediately obvious and you can waste your time doing half of whatever puzzle/challenge is on the island before you're forced to just turn around. You might as well just wait until you've already beaten the game before doing any side activities but then by that point the rewards no longer have any value and are merely just for completions sake.

I think its easily the worst 3D Zelda game(besides botw and totk) and they should have just delayed it another year or two to get its shit together.

This. You can't even enjoy these games without a difficulty mod or refusing to collect heart upgrades.

if you don't think having to play a song multiple times every single room in a dungeon to control a slow and limited secondary character for 2 entire dungeons isn't "tedious" you probably have had a lobotomy.

I loved this game as a kid, bought it with a $50 bill I found outside of a 7/11. To me it was magical, I played it for years and probably 75% of that time was spent just dicking around in the world long after I had beaten the game. I had my SP hooked up for the tingle tuner and everything. To me it felt like a true adventure; I was traveling between distant lands trading goods and putting my little mushroom stamp flags on every isle, I'd see a bokoblin platform in the distance, observe it with my telescope and then wait for nightfall so I could approach and murder them all in their sleep and take their treasure, I'd sail the seas having cannon battles and trying to find the ghost ship, and otherwise explore the world and uncover its eccentricities, of which there were a lot.

Unfortunately, it's the kind of game that was magical because I was a retarded 10 year old. When you go back at 30, there'a no point in plotting a nighttime attack against pirates because the game is easy as fuck and such steps are unnecessary. You don't care about roleplaying a seafaring trader or putting flags on every island because you're an adult and you've lost sense of whimsy and imagination. I guess what I'm saying is, this game is legitimately fantastic when you're young and naive enough to appreciate it for the wonder of it all, but it'a just a particularly weak Zelda game with a faggy art style and only 4 dungeons when you're an adult.

NTA but to say its not every single room is pretty disingenuous. It is most of them and many of them do require you to do it multiple times per room. His point about the mechanic being used in leu of something new is valid too.

>The problem with Wind Waker is that it's WAY TOO EASY.
no no no
the problem with Wind Wanker is that
-it revolves around waiting to arrive at the content
-that content is one note "islands" you will never revisit
-in order to change directions you have to stop and play a song
-when Nintendo remastered it they changed these two things:
the graphics that everyone claimed were timeless, they were out of date and needed changing
the swift sail which completely invalidates the game's namesake wind waker
-in this pirate treasure hunting game, the only time you go hunting for legit treasure is tacked on at the end padding out the game and leading to poor pacing
-Nintendo's remaster, as a feature, cuts out content from the game to make it better
imagine that, removing content from the game is a plus a benefit
-the game would be short as fuck if you didn't waste time sailing and pay walling triforce charts

Weigh the entire experience in and this game is the absolute weakest 3D entry in the franchise and has no redeeming quality.

I just watch movie at that point. If you're going to keep supporting a video game market that shits out interactive movies, then at least create difficulty mods.

the sea setting isn't a bad idea in theory, it's just that the sailing between islands takes too long and you constantly have to conduct faggy little melodies to change wind direction or fast travel. it's the annoyance of OoT's ocarina songs dialed up to 11 with long waiting periods of near-nothingness added on top.

also it would have softened the blow if they had let you actually explore sunken hyrule in the second half of the game. instead they tease the shit out of you, and then when you finally get there, the only portion you get to explore is a single fucking bridge leading into a small cave. what the fuck were they smoking
