Played for half an hour today. Not too bad. Very basic but has a lot of soul. Going to try and play more tonight. Hopefully my save worked. Never had to hold in the reset button while shutting the power off on a game to properly save before.

A perfect little adventure and a great entryway into the genre. I absolutely love DW1 and would recommend anyone try it. I found it more engaging and adventurous than FF1.

Up to level 5 now mostly just exploring and grinding. Died twice so far. Game feels tough but fair. Went for the club and clothes at first and was able to upgrade to the leather armor. Saving up for a shield then plan on checking out my first cave.

Played it on my phone during a flight. A simple rpg grind that started a franchise.

Level 6 now with Copper Sword and small shield. Went to first cave and that was mostly just an introduction cave with some info about your quest. Just grinding for gold to buy better gear and exploring now. Character is much tougher now so im not constantly going back to town to heal. Wasn't sure if this game would be for me but i am really enjoying it so far.

Wasn't anything nuts for my level in the area tho. Magicians, magidrakes, ghosts occasional scorpion, etc. I was doing fine taking minimal damage then that fucker popped up. Might need to grind in safer areas for a bit but the gold accumulation sucks.

To continue: At lvl9 now with the axe, chain mail, and large shield. Went exploring in a cave and got lost for awhile almost dying before finding the exit. For my next trek down I have dug up some graph paper that I will use. Still loving it and I'm already thinking of picking up the sequels.

Grind for half an hour, walk forward about 20-30 steps until the enemies are too strong to beat, walk backward until the are ones you can reasonably kill come back, grind for half an hour again, finally be able to move forward another 20-30 steps, repeat.

Mapped out my first dungeon ever. Was actually kinda fun. Going to buy some half plate grind to lvl10 then hit up this other cave to the east.

Update: Now at lvl11 with the Broadsword, Half Plate, and Large Shield. Went through and mapped the eastern pathway cave that leads to the Southeast landmass. Found the town with the magic keys and found another dungeon below the town in the northwest corner. Made it to the 3rd level mapping before getting sweeped by a Druinlord. Probably will grind for gold to buy the Full Plate before trying to venture down again.

Update: Completed dungeon received Harp. Gave harp to wizard in North East cave for rain staff. Also got a cursed belt. Found a wizard to rid me of it. Defeated Green Dragon and rescued Princess at East tunnel. She is madly in love with me and wants my D. Found fairy flute. Grinded for lvl13 and Magic armor.

Thanks fren. Last night wasn't too fruitful. Found a destroyed city in a desert South west continent. Even with the best of the best weapon/armor that I can currently buy I am not strong enough. Lots of Wyvern and even came across another Green Dragon. Didn't have a ton of time to play but only a couple hundred more xp and I can move up to lvl14.

Searched again for the cellar. No luck. Its probably stupid easy to find and i am just overthinking it. Made it to the desert city. Place was deserted. Couldn't find anything inside it except strong monsters. Ventured past it but couldn't make it very far because the jump in difficulty was huge. Thank God for the return spell. Grinding for a bit and should reach lvl15 tomorrow.

I'm assuming you figured out the trick to finding the key vendor in Rimuldar. Try to find other places where the border of the map (i.e. the tileline that sends you back to the world map) is farther than it looks.

Update: up to lvl15 and finally reached the city of Catlin. Was not easy. Bought the flame sword and will need to save up for the new shield. Lots of new info of places to search especially for the family armor.

Update: at lvl 16 with the flame sword, eldritch armor, and 14k shield. Found the coin proving who I am and was able to combine the rain staff and light stones. Created the rainbow bridge but had to quit after that unfortunately. Going to explore that island next.

Update: Made it to the Dragonlords castle. Mapped the entire 1st level dungeon and found the 'true' 2nd level staircase. Definitely need to toughen up my character. Only need 1500xp before graduating to lvl17 so I'll probably grind that out before heading back in.

I find it strange that the box specifies that the first generation after Hero and Gwaelin comprised two boys and a girl. Why does that matter when more generations passed by before this game's heroes arose? But it also says that DW's hero was Erdrick I guess? So maybe it is just not to be trusted at all.

It still blows my mind that someone out there would actually buy a video game with their own money and then ask strangers on the internet for teasers/spoilers before playing.
