why do you jump so fucking short.
why do you play shitty licensed platformers
>>11839284 (OP)He's just a toy, give him a break. He's a got a fucking snake in his boot.
>we have clockwork knight at home
>>11839284 (OP)were running physics from like mario 1 really that hard to program? Theres so many cheap platformers from this era with stiff controls just like this game
Look at that poor edging on Woody
>>11839284 (OP)I remember playing this game on snes as a kid and being so excited to play it because I loved the first Toy Story movie. Then that damn car level got my ass.
Still a really cool game though, need to revisit.
>>11839289Toy Story is actually good. Genesis version anyway.
>>11839284 (OP)because he was born to be a race car driver
considering his gangly dangly legs it's a miracle he can jump at all
It's a western platformer.
The devs of this and EWJ1&2 were smart in not making the whole game the same. Controls and level design are not strong enough, so mixing things up felt exciting. Like, it's still a bland game when it comes to sheer gameplay on all fronts, but even if it ran at 2 fps and there was no enemies to shoot, having that Doom level on Sega Genesis back in 95 was madness. You had to be there.
I would beat this game consistently every day at one point.
>Playing the inferior SNES port
>>11840631The jump is the same. But yeah, it's one of those western games where the dev team was more familiar with the Genesis hardware.
Why didn't they use Silicon Graphics for the whole game, like Donkey Kong Country? Disney must be insane to not want to make another Donkey Kong Country!
This is game is impossible to beat unless you cheat. Do we really need so many cheats, game makers?
Bottom Line: Toy Story is a better game than the Donkey Kong Country games, the graphics are fantastic, but the game can he finished far too quickly! This one's a jar, folks!

The colors in Genesis version look like they're struggling to exist. I am definitely biased though because I had SNES.
>>11840662Yes, you're biased. More levels, more resolution, better performance in the 3D levels > more children friendly colors because it's a nintendo console
>>11840676Well, and you forgot the SNES has much better sound, beautiful sound in fact.
Cowboys ain't known for they hops, nigga.
>>11839284 (OP)is Woody a giant or is that chair a toy-size?
>>11839295This is better than clockwork knight thoughever
>>11839284 (OP)Toy Story is one of the top-sellers of the brief "Mom won't buy me a PS1 or Saturn, so I'll suspend my disbelief and buy into the magazine hype that these new SNES/Genesis games have next-gen level graphics." era from 1994-1996.
>>11842072>the brief "Mom won't buy me a PS1 or Saturn, so I'll suspend my disbelief and buy into the magazine hype that these new SNES/Genesis games have next-gen level graphics." era from 1994-1996.That's a lot of words to say "ripping off Donkey Kong Country."
>>11842091It takes a lot of words to explain exactly why total shit like Toy Story sold 1 million copies, and it really comes down to what I said + Nintendo wasn't releasing a DKC game every 3 months so there was a vacuum.
>>11839284 (OP)Pretty sure it was because of his string lasso able to help get placed. So because of a gimmick idea
>>11841951Itโs a childrenโs chair, itโs gonna be that small.
there's been a lot of toy story shilling here lately
>>11839308Easy to beat, but only if you cheat.

>>11839382It most certainly is fucking not. This is not acceptable art direction or level design for a 1995 game

>>11845103>>11845104This game from 1992 had better art direction and level design, also a Disney game
>>11845103that's traveller's tales for you. impressive tech demos with a mediocre game slapped onto them.
>>11845103Level design, yes, but whatโs wrong with the art direction? Itโs the same as the movie.

>>11845126Mickey Mania called
>>11845127Compare it to Donkey Kong, which has much more detail and granularity. Toy Story looks like someone made a level using MS Word clipart.
I loved Toy Story back then. But even back then I hated this game. Mostly because of that one level where you have to make sure the toys get in the box - fuck that level. But also it's just an ugly-ass game. Capcom would've made beautiful sprites and it would've been a glorious game
>>11839292Not to mention someone poisoned the water hole, so he's probably not feeling too great.
>>11843739Spamming. The word you're looking for is spamming. Nothing Toy Story-related is being sold as a result of these threads.
>>11839382It's not though. The sprites are way too fucking huge and as a result, it has screen crunch almost as bad as a gameboy game.
The graphics are fantastic but the actual gameplay is a generic 2D platformer with screen crunch and bullshit levels intentionally designed to stop you from beating the game in a weekend rental period.
