This game is a pile of trash.

Why do autists love it so much? Everything about it is infuriating.

That's one of the annoying parts, yes.

But it's also fucking incomplete. Like 10% of the cards require 99999999 starchips or some crap like that to purchase. You get like 7 per battle if I remember correctly. Literally incomplete game.

I'm guessing they didn't want you curb stomping the entire game immediately with a Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

no but you are confident that you're competent enough to judge if the game is well designed or not. you feel that you can tell if you're having a skill issue or if the game is poorly designed. but people who are more competent than you recognize that you're wrong.

dunning kreuger isn't thinking you're good at a game and then getting your ass kicked by it an humbling yourself. it's thinking you're good at video games in general, finding a game that kicks your ass, and assuming it's the game's fault for being a "pile of trash" rather than your own skill issue.

The japanese version had a pocketsation feature that would allow you to earn starchips, which is why cards are so expensive.
Since the pocketstation never released in the west and the devs adjusted the prices of the cards, the western release is simply broken.

Anyway I really liked the music and atmosphere the second half set in post apocalyptic egypt was especially cool. The gameplay was fun but in the end it really boils down to placing the strongest card possible on the field and winning, no room for strategy of any kind.

it's literally a failure of game design because the game actually wasn't like this in japan at all and it's easy to buy powerful monsters.
>>11840654
the issue is the difficulty is how much time you're willing to kill grinding rather than an actual challenge. It took me many hours of grinding s tech or whatever just to have enough spells to beat it, it just gets boring as fuck eventually and the story although a semi interesting look into how the actual manga/anime could have ended, gets sullied by that grindy af shit too. That's also ignoring the fact that every npc is honestly piss easy to beat minus the final bosses.

Are there not even cool battle animations in this game? It just seems to be the cards moving and the board rotating, I thought each attack would be shown as an FF7 style summon.

The battle animations are optional. Most people don't bother with them cause each are like 2 minutes long and most don't look that interesting.
Also instead of burning up in flames on a black background, the losing card explodes on the board, with the scattered pieces set ablaze.

They aren't flawless human beings just because they made a game you like, Anon. Also as others have already pointed out to your low IQ ass, dome if the issues are only an issue in the English version and thus are going against the dev's intents anyways.

So basically you're stupid desu.

Since we're talking about Yu Gi Oh, why does this game barely get mentioned compared to Duelists of the Roses or the GBA ones? I used to play it back in the day. It was fun, plus I believe every monster in the game had its own animation.

Because the game sucks? Giving each monster random movement and attack range is absolutely retarded.

It's got good aesthetic and atmosphere, fueled by a superb OST. It can be grindy and cryptic, and overall plays too simple, but I find that charming. If you're a fan of the IP, and are willing to look up a guide, playing this can be a comfortable and fun time.

I'd say fusion is one of the best parts... it's all about card types. A fire and a beast? Flame Cerebrus. A woman and a rock? Mystical Sand. A forest and a beast? Flower Wolf. If you get this and experiment a little, the whole thing opens up so much!

It's kusoge, but quite enjoyable in its own way.

It's a tough issue, often the criticism is valid and the people defending are just blinded by nostalgia, but other times it can also be a case where the person is indeed getting filtered, for this particular title I think nostalgia plays a bigger part, but often on other threads the latter can be quite common too, anon.

It's horribly balanced and starts getting absurdly grindy when you reach the mages (apparently an additional feature in Japan remedied this somewhat?) but the OST is top tier, the pulp horror vibe of early Yugioh is fun, and the mechanics are simple to play - with fusion especially being a very "tactile" digital only mechanic with big swirls and a flashy outcome. Much more convenient than actual fusion at the time
