Greetings anons. I'm trying to remember a certain RE4 strat that basically involves a series of trades with the merchant. Like buying the broken butterfly, selling it, getting the treasure one, something like that, maybe not literally like that, but basically a strat that will make you extremely OP in a brand new game.
I understand that it isn't a hard game at all, and after 20 years of playing I agree, I just want to see what's the most efficient way of playing through it.

sounds based, I just beat it for the first two times (ever) recently. First blind and then 2nd playthrough with the infinite rocket launcher. Was really fun, I'm sad I missed out on it at the time.

last year i played through the wii version using a controller gyro as the remote pointer, it was pretty fun.
as for money, the only thing i can think about it looking at a treasure guide. if i remember correctly, upgrading weapons before selling them comes at a loss, so avoid upgrading anything until you get your favorite/best weapons. also avoid upgrading capacity with a full magazine.

Basically the broken butterfly is unique because unlike most guns you can acquire 2 of them if you buy the one off the merchant before getting the treasure one. Which means you can sell one and reinvest the proceeds in the other. The merchant sell sit at a discount at some point (chapter 3, I think?) making your ROI that much better if you get the first one cheap. Or you can keep both and do the free reload when upgrading ammo capacity trick on both which means a lot of extra magnum ammo although this makes it harder to upgrade either of them fully.

I usually just sell the one as soon as I have the other. I don't know if it necessarily makes you OP but it makes for a nice instant cash influx so you can upgrade whatever you want a little faster than usual. Keep in mind you can only do it in the part of chapter 4 where Ashley is still with you and, again, you have to have bought the one for sale before getting your 2nd one or else it won't be for sale any more. The game doesn't really want you to have 2 of them.

The free broken butterfly is like in the middle of the castle so idk if I'd call that a "brand new game" thing.
Turning in all blue medals for the punisher with one free upgrade is way earlier.
Neither are OP though.

Yeah I memorized most treasures already. This has to be circa my 30th or so playthrough. Maybe not exactly where they are but I do know the general area to find them.

It was kind of like that! But I recall being something of a cycle between that and the killer 7 too, given that they have different damage stats. I usually just sell the treasure one too.

What I mean is "what's the best, most efficient way of going through the game on a non-NG+", that's what I mean with brand new game. And yeah I have done both of those things.

Here's the thing guys, this method should be able to exploit the fact that there's someway to cheat the merchant of some cash and getting an extremely powerful magnum as early as possible (even if it means relatively late in the game). It was something about cycling the guns.
Anyways, but there were also other key parts, such as what shotguns to use and so on.
