Your 2nd point was an on-going process for centuries. The middle class was on its way downwards since the 80s. Homelessness saw an increase in that same decade which is largely considered the start of the "modern era of homelessness". Are you also seriously saying corporations held little power in the USA before the release of this game? Companies lobbied for coup d'etats with American involvement in South America to grow some more cheap fruit, doesn't much fit the United States anti-tyrannical found ideology, but definitely fits a corporatist puppet government.
