No it isn't, what the fuck are you talking about? Did you download a Mario 2 JP rom by mistake? Are you playing with 800ms of latency?

Is it though? Whenever I played smb1 warpless I would only ever have trouble with the last 3 worlds
Anonymous No.11845567 [Report]
It's kinda hard at first without warps, but not too bad. Just less room for error because it doesn't throw lives at you the way later Mario games do. Once you learn the game though it's really fun to run through fast, you can fly through stages.

Not him, I missed out on NES games (started gaming with 4th gen), but had an easier time playing through the Mega Man titles than SMB. Not that the latter was super difficult, just moreso by comparison.

No, I'm talking about original hardware. Even with continue code, SMB is pretty damn tough. None of those four series are particularly hard.

I would put SMB and Zelda 1 in similar difficulty levels.
Anonymous No.11845850 [Report] >>11845854 >>11845910
>>11845715
Do you remember why?
Mega Man is less tough about continues, and the puzzles/weaknesses can be somewhat solved logically rather than needing brute force. It also gives you somewhat more control over movement, and timing is a bigger focus than managing speed. If those things play more to your strengths I could sort of see it. Other than that, I recall Mega Man having tougher equivalent challenges for platforming, asshole enemy placement, bosses, and overall coordination needed. Mario just doesn't have equivalent challenges to Yellow Devil or Wily other than maybe hammers, and fire is basically everything's weakness.
Anonymous No.11845854 [Report]
>>11845850
Can't remember, it's been over a decade or so. I think your point about the movement might be correct. I'll have to play through again sometime and see what I notice.
Anonymous No.11845910 [Report]
>>11845850
Mega Man is way, way easier in terms of platforming and combat, and is way more forgiving. Even with continue code, I would still say Mario is harder, and without, it's no contest. The bosses are already pretty simple, and using weaknesses makes them a complete pushover. There are like one or two tricky sections with platforming, but nothing even remotely close to worlds 7 and 8 in SMB.

Yellow Devil is tricky, but he has a very predictable pattern that once you know it, you can never fail, or alternatively, you can use the very common glitch to completely trivialize him.

The game is actually harder using warps. You don't get any of the potential 1-ups that you could get when going through the whole game, making world 8 harder.

I'm talking about the 2D Ninja Gaiden games, not the 3D ones on MNM. Ninja Gaiden is a total pushover until the very last stage, and the game gives you infinite continues. And even the final bosses aren't difficult if you use magic.

Hold a + start to not lose world progress. Don't use warp pipes. Try lost levels after you beat it. Skip ng+ on smb but you can try grinding for bonus worlds in lost levels if you actually get into it

Is there a strategy for these guys or bowser that works 100% of the time? Even if I run close and keep patient sometimes the momentum is just too slow to run past them. Great game though super fun. I like that they give you infinite tries at 7-1 with that 1up. It’s not that punishing, but it’s pretty challenging. If you can hold Super Mario power up until bowser it feels awesome, but usually I lose it on a hammer bro haha

>>11845528
It's not really that bad at all with warps, the peak of Ninja Gaiden is definitely way harder than anything here, and the yellow giant guys in Mega Man as well that ended up filtering me. Just playing the game regularly will make getting warpless after not that bad either.

You gotta anticipate them being there and just use p speed to rush through that area before they start their barrage. Once they get started its much harder. Memorizing the level is the most important thing so just keep trying

Protips:
>Don't run all the time, many obstacles are designed for precision jumping and it's a lot more difficult if you're holding B all the time and aren't an autist or speedrunner who's beaten the game millions of times
>Learn the warp spots and 1-up tricks, they help tremendously for practicing some of the trickier levels without having to start a new run after too many fuckups, memorizing the early level and world layouts make them a breeze to get through
>Don't worry that much about chasing power ups, focus on moving forward and avoiding enemies and traps even if you're stuck as manlet Mario without a fire flower for extended periods of time

The infinite 1up trick is the dumbest advice for beating Super Mario Bros because it's harder than just beating the game. Just use the continue code.
And it is a gay cheat because by this logic you can beat Contra 3 "legit" easily by grinding 1ups in multiple spots.
