Looks like tube type to me. Left is a clear shadowmask tube.

slotmask, not shadowmask, although some people call slotmasks a shadowmask and viceversa. Anyway, it's just an autismo thread from someone who doesn't have anything better to discuss. Unless you use shaders via emulation, it's not like you can easily pick and choose between different types of masks and tvl given how the CRT market is right now. Learn to love your CRT if you have one.

The best video option for the NTSC Sega Genesis was a shit tier composite cable. PAL users were playing in RGB.

Actually most were playing with the RF cables that came bundled with all consoles back then. When Sega bundled the Saturn with RGB Scart cables it caused problems for people still using old TVs that lacked the connection. Sega later switch back to using RF cables and did the same for the Dreamcast.

I only ever used composite for MD and SNES. For the NES and MS I used RF. RGB/SCART did not exist here (Australia).

I don't really like fake scanlines and don't get why anyone would want to artificially add them, I don't even remember them because I'm pretty sure my brain just ignored them.

Most TVs had very subtle scanlines and you wouldn't see them unless you autistically zoom in.

You would call fake scanlines to actual scanlines because you don't even know why they're a thing
