>>11845665 (OP) That anon a few days ago who wanted RPGs where magic drains health instead of MP might like this.

I had this as a kid and it was *very* grind-heavy compared to something easy like FFII/FFIII/CT. I only made it up to Jurayn, which is like 4 hours into the game. I did end up beating it as a teenager on emulator a few years later though, but even then I thought it was one of the harder SNES JRPGs.
>>11845971 Final Fantasy II was popular at the time and it had a Paladin in it. The marketing guys figured you're too stupid to know what a Lennus is, but if you played FFII you might get something called a Paladin's Quest.
>>11846051 and yet people have no problem doing the same thing for Dracula X / Dracula XX despite, just like FFIV, Dracula X also released in the west under that name later on
>>11846054 Because thereโs not another game called โDracula Xโ that one might confuse it for. Thats just a localized name. There is another game called Final Fantasy II
>>11846051 Man I loved Final Fantasy 2. Lots of amazing memories helping Cecil and the gang get to the moon.
Later on they made a sequel called Final Fantasy IV, and though they copied a lot from the second one, they added in more difficulty and abilities.
Then when Final Fantasy 8 came out, they changed a few characters and added even more stuff, but kept the basic story about the gang heading to space to fight aliens and shit
>>11845665 (OP) You answered your own question. Earthbound's visuals are probably its worst aspect, and this game you posted doesn't have the Smash Bros bonus to make people pretend to care about it.
>>11846085 >Because thereโs not another game called โDracula Xโ that one might confuse it for
What people call "Rondo of Blood" *is* Dracula X and yes, it *did* re-release in the west under that title later on. Just like the Final Fantasy games.

>>11845665 (OP) Never heard of it. And the complete lack of any screens in this thread isn't helping. What is this amateur hour?
>>11847084 Same. They intentionally chose a harsh, garish color palette. It was a bold move and one that didn't exactly work out. Respect for trying, though. Casting spells with HP, mercenaries not leveling up, and various other stuff just further enforced how alien it was compared to its contemporaries. Even to this day it's a pretty unusual game.
>>11847350 Lennus II is nicely refined compared to 1, and does a lot of stuff better (far quicker battles, equipment is legible and not 'HvyShld' or 'ChnMl', far more mercenaries to hire). It does however feature a WD-quality translation courtesy of Magic Destiny, that flat out makes shit up cus it was 'funnier' that way. I know they translated some other game into leftist-baiting political lulz, which has a place, it'd just be better to y'know, bother to translate the game properly. Lennus 2 and their patch for FEDA are among the closest I've played to a WD translation, and not in the best way.
