Yes, and it's not even hard. The pattern is the same every time, so just count the moving parts until you have to jump over the low flying ones. It's much easier than, say, Dracula in CastleVania 1, which is also a slow and tedious fight that requires a ton of patience.

I watched a video of someone who didn't cheat which might be harder than beating it yourself without cheating.

I didn't even think of that, I just went clockwise. I guess in retrospect doing electro man before ice man would've made things a lot easier. But I was referring to the pause exploit.

The trick to Dracula (at least his first form, the second form is easy) is to always keep moving. He does that bullshit move where he spawns right on top of you sometimes, and if you're standing still then you probably won't have enough time to avoid the hit.

No, I meant you can grind the drops by going up and down the stairs. That's the classic Castlevania strat. With a fully upgraded cross and enough ammo Dracula is really easy.

Yeah, it's not hard at all. Dodging his pattern is like second nature at this point.
I don't understand why people make such a big deal out of this when RGN shitfest bosses like Quick Man are a hundred times harder.

Fuck no I cheated. This is without question the hardest Mega Man boss besides Wily in 7 if you don't know the weakness.

It's really amazing how jank early Capcom NES games were (and I'm not just talking about the outsourced Micronics crap). But they kept at it and ended up one of the best devs on the system.

I picked Megaman 2 and 3 on 3ds cause they were some of my favorite games as a kid cause I could regularly beat them, I was getting trashed. And I came to the unfortunate conclusion that as a kid I had just memorized everything about those games and could beat them on muscle memory.

I found out a way to cheese the copy boss. Only use your default blaster. Every time you shoot, the copy jumps. I've used that to my advantage.

This thread inspired me to run through the game again. It's definitely way harder without save states (a lot more run-backs), and I've no idea how it would be possible without exploiting the bosses weaknesses. Especially Fire Man, it seems impossible to dodge his attacks, and Electro Man can wipe out your HP with three hits???

The Yellow Devil is my favourite thing in the game. Beating it with the buster is totally doable, you just have to master the jumping and the pattern, and then it feels great when you can beat it and avoid it consistently.

>>11848571
Just now I found that by just standing still and mashing A with the buster for the entire fight pretty much worked and the copy shoots over you... like >>11848950 said

Yeah I have. First time I cheated, then I ran through the game to beat it without the pause glitch and I made it through here. It's such a long endurance test. I actually couldn't finish my no pause glitch because Fire Man is baloney and I couldn't get through the boss refights with enough health to even have a chance against Wily. So as far as I'm concerned Yellow Devil is not the hardest thing in the game, Fire Man is.

NTA, but yes. Once you have that information in your head you can never unlearn it, you can never go back and learn it for yourself, and every experience you have with the game will be tainted by this outside knowledge forever.

Capcom cheated first by not putting the levels in order for the sake of increasing the difficulty. Looking up the boss order is unironically making the game fair

>I have to cheat to make the game fair!
Whatever helps you sleep at night. The base difficulty of the game is a buster-only run, figuring out the boss weaknesses is a bonus trick for making the rematches and subsequent replays easier. If you look up the boss order you're cheating yourself to a lower difficulty playthrough.
