Are you referring to these two games along with GTA:SA dominating their respective cultures and making every other game from that period a minor footnote? Those three games mogged all of gaming for a decade.
The most brutal thing since then was how hard Fortnite took a shit on PUBG, but that's not retro.
The worst moggings before were the PS1, PS2, and NES themselves blowing the complete fuck out of the competition in sales for their entire respective generations.
