Zelda has as much continuity as the Mario games.

It doesn't help that the Hero is Defeated timeline has basically just become a dumping ground for any game after the N64 games that isn't a "big" Zelda game. If it's not a direct sequel to Wind Waker or a console seller like Not of the Retro, good chance it's going there.
