Hi /vr/, I’m wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue. I’m using an EZ Flash IV cart. Loading games into PSRAM works fine, after a soft reset, I see the message that the save was written, and the game loads correctly. Yesterday, I decided to finally try and play Mother 3. The problem is that the ROM is too large to be launched with PSRAM, so I used NORFLASH mode. The game appeared in the main folder, and I was able to start it successfully.
However, after doing another soft reset, the game icon (which is normally a GBA pixelart) changed to a folder icon, and the game name changed from Mother3 to some chinese characters. The game still launches, but the save function no longer works.
I’m currently on the latest firmware v2.05.
Has anyone encountered this issue or know a fix? I'd really love to try this famous game

>copy rom to sd
>put sd in flashcart
>select game in flashcart
This shouldn't be difficult, anon

you don't really know what are you talking about
>rom is in sd
>sd is in the cart
>card is in GBAsp and DSlite
>games load with psram just fine
>Mother3 too big for psram
>copy it to NOR flash memory
>game load but looks corrupted after the reset and the saves are gone
>fix how?

Maybe try flashing it again?
I did play a bit of Mother 3 on the EZ Flash IV the same way you're doing without any problems.
Ended up getting an EZ Flash Omega DE which is a much better flashcart.

I wonder if it's worth buying just for that one game. Loading and playing via PSRAM works just fine (just a bit slow) I also have r4 for DS, so maybe GBArunner will work.
For starters I try to use patched kernel from gbatemp and using different SD card

installed new custom theme, used new SD cart, tried with different game - still no luck and same bug.
Last thing I am gonna try is to change the battery. But looking how even with softreset game name get immediately corrupted I think it has to be something with the cart itself.

is omega definitive edition that much different from normal one? Because for sure it's more expensive

Believe me, EZ IV isn't 100% compatible with every game. And sometimes it doesn't deal well with fantranslation, from visual glitches to games refusing to run.

>A "MODE B" operation that allows the cart to work as a DS expansion cart
>Replaced SRAM with FRAM for saving (no need to wait a few seconds after saving for it to save to the SD card)
>Larger form factor (size of a regular GBA cartridge)
>Larger NOR flash area for up to 64MB ROM support (really only useful for GBA Video ROMs)
>Significantly lower power consumption
>Rumble support
>RGB LED
Not losing saves because of a dead battery is probably the biggest difference.
Rumble is also pretty cool for a cartridge, a shame I finished Drill Dozer on the EZ IV.

Yes, it's not shit like all the others and lets you play almost all games correctly
Only specialty gimmick games don't work as intended, like boktai and warioware twisted

Doesnt mother 3 have some insane antipiracy if you tamper with the rom and other rom as well as a bunch of other checks randomly while playing
