if its your first video game then you gotta start somewhere. If youve played an RPG before then you are stupid. Read the manual next time it usually explains all the commands to you.

I didn't know how to equip materia in FF7 for a while, but I was a retarded 10 year old playing with a faulty translation (worse than English). What's your excuse?

We all do stupid things from time to time. Hopefully you can enjoy the game now.

Nowhere near as retarded, but when I first played FF6 I didn't know anything about properly equipping my characters, so I would just auto-equip them with Optimize. Relics didn't have the Optimize option, so I just put on whatever made the stat numbers look bigger. Still ended up beating it, mostly thanks to Ultima spam.

Oh come on now even back then people often didn't diligently study manuals. This is a perfectly reasonable mistake to make. Further into the game it'd become more obvious that people can hold equipment they aren't capable of wielding, and the fact that characters animate their FIGHT move (potentially, one might think, displaying their weaponry) would probably ring a bell in the player's mind, but right at the start it makes plenty of sense that somebody would fall into this trap.
