>>11852157>>11852184Yeah I liked him in Adventure for the same reason, he stood out as something different at a time when Sonic Adventure was trying a lot of different things. The game still had lots of robots too, so it felt like it was another of Robotnik's schemes and we'd go back to Sonic vs Robotnik afterwards.
I don't like that it became something of a trope since then that it was always 'Robotnik accidentally unleashes some monster/magic which is the REAL enemy' after that.

It definitely seems like part of the reason they went with Chaos for SA is that they wanted to flex the Dreamcast's power with a transforming, transparent monster.
