I'm looking for some old indie game, it was like Eversion (pic) in that it seemed like a normal cutesy platformer at first, but as you explored the world got more and more warped and distorted. I remember the main character being very "blocky", as in being made of squares, and the enemies were circular goomba/galoomba things. The gameplay was mostly puzzle-type rather than regular linear platforming, you had to move things and blocks into their proper position/configuration to proceed through levels

If you want more like this check out the Toki Tori series

Moai Kun gets more challenging later on, I remember having to draw my own maps planning every move ahead, but it's still fairly manageable by the standards of Famicom action puzzle games. It doesn't have any "how were you supposed to know moment" or severely intense pixel perfect puzzles on a timer or anything like that.
