Post your very favorites. I honestly hated pic related on my first playthrough but upon my next few ones I began to love it even more than the entire base game. It's a pure masterpiece.

I absolutely adore Deathking of the Dark Citadel for Hexen but the consensus seems to be that it's bad for some reasons

also obligatory

I kinda dislike how absolutely packed with enemies this expansion is on the two last skill levels. It's like every single meter square has an enemy in it and not just cannon fodder too, it makes the whole thing a mess and a chore to play so I always go down one skill level when I play that one compared to the original game.

There was a short time when Doom likes thought challenge should be "let's throw in as many enemies as possible", even the prototype versions of Duke Nukem 3D were like that before they rebalanced it for the better. I like to think it was techinical limitations and optimization for it to be playable on 486 that lead to better design but maybe they just smartened up, or it's a bith of both.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I think it's better than the base game.

Heretic is specificly designed around pushing back enemies and not just SSGing whole groups in one shot, so it made sense. Its just what there was to work with regarding the enemy attacks and properties, so it becomes more about kiting, creating space, and ammo/inventory management. Really gives the Tome some great usage cases too instead of just being a bonus you pop because there's an ambush and you're carrying two.

According to an old tweet by Randy Pitchford they couldn't secure the rights for them when they made World Tour, which I presume means Megaton included the expansions without actually having the rights. This is corroborated by an interview of a dev who worked on one of the expansions saying nobody seems to know who owns the rights.
