Despite having better controls second one was so much less fun to play. Can't even pinpoint what exactly went wrong but it all just feels obtuse and a little more retarded somehow
"A little more retarded" sums it up honestly, it's like they decided what Croc 1 was missing was loads of written dialogue and fetch quests and it should be written specifically for a sub 1st grade level. I remember seeing this game on shelves when it was released and thinking "this feels really late, Croc is an old game now". The gap between 1997 and 1999 doesn't look that large on paper but to see this as a brand new game in August 1999 just felt like a gulf of difference. Realistically too, it seems like something that should have released in 1998.
