Zelda really needed a better decorator, the blandness detracts from the atmosphere. Even with a basic fairy tale plot like "the sleeping princess needs saved from a warlock", if it had a good mystical looking world and atmosphere it could be a lot more immersive

It's not like Metroid is big on story or characters, but they somehow nail the creepy alien planet vibe

Some people are too cynical and obsessed with hating something to admit they like it. But I also know the experience playing and watching something nonstop all the time while also having massive hatred for big aspects of it, but no one who actually hates it would waste their time on it I like do.

Think it has Lot of missed potential and I usually have measured expectations with the kind of experience id get now which allows me to find enjoyment. When I was younger I used to want more from it. The word overrated is overused but if ever I was gonna use it it would be for zelda. I've seen it dickridden so out of proportion with how important it actually was it makes you want to take it down a peg. Not even saying it wasn't important just massively overhyped from people that don't play other games. Zelda fans are to video games what Brandon Sanderson fans are to fantasy.

I don't really "get" the zelda franchise. Like I guess I missed the boat so I have no nostalgia for it. It's just a fantasy game with swords. When people say breath of the wild was a major change for open world games, it just looks like skyrim but brighter.
