I've played Dream Land and Adventure and they were solid games but there was nothing special about them really aside from the latter being one of the best looking NES games. I know there are a LOT of Kirby platformers now but from what I've seen they are all pretty similar with some entries like Dream Land 3 and Epic Yarn having their own unique art style, sort of like Yoshi games.

Usually brutally easy, but not much worth hating. The retro ones are enjoyable but some are more interesting than others.
Never liked how there would be really good additions to the mechanics for a single game which would just be forgotten by the next game. The split chapters from Super Star with different playstyles, the power mixing in 64, the co-op progressive exploration in Amazing Mirror (though you could call it a Cave Offensive follow-up) all were single-use good ideas that could have evolved into very interesting lines of games with more distinct identities. Instead, they seemed intent on having the franchise's gameplay be as indistinct and variable as Kirby himself, with even the copy ability which made Kirby interesting being left out of some games. It became unreliable as a series, you never know what kind of game you'll get, and they seem to make up for it mainly by making them really easy. These complaints didn't really become huge annoyances until post-retro though, so as a classic game character Kirby still has a good legacy.

The absolute perfect game for kids new to video games. Kirby's Adventure on NES is great for my five year old. I tried the various Mario games, but they're actually pretty hard to pick up and learn on. Just constant dying because the kid is still learning about over, up, down, A and B. Let alone "don't touch the bad guys, except you can jump on some of them and don't fall in a pit". You can tell them which buttons are what and what they all do a bajillion times, but it takes awhile to actually stick, believe it or not. I basically had to babysit my kid on Mario because she couldn't hardly do anything. Kirby can just fly over the stage, he can take multiple hits before he dies and he can return to previous stages so the kid can actually make it somewhere beyond the first few steps and it really helps keep them intetested. Plus, once they become a little more accustomed to the controls, sucking things up is fun and Dreamland is really cute. There's also lots of little mini games, too. I can leave my daughter alone on Kirby's Adventure for about an hour and she's okay. It's not even 5 minutes on Mario. Also, the control scheme is basically the same as Mario, so I expect it won't take too long before she'll be good enough to take on the Mushroom Kingdom with me. I also remember I fucking loved Kirby's Adventure on NES when I was really little, too.

Starts off fun but unspectacular with KDL, finds it's groove with Kirby's Adventure and perfects the formula with Super Star. The platformers are mostly still good after that but nothing comes close to the highs of KSS.
The non-platformer games run the gamut but most are pretty good. I like Pinball Land better than Pokemon Pinball.

I played the first kirby gb game and was disappointed it only took like 30 minutes to beat. I cant imagine buying that and feeling like I got my moneys worth unless I was 6 years old.

I like the SNES Kirby games, Kirby 64, and Kirby in smash bros 64. They made him too weak in Melee it felt like.

Back in the SNES days Kirby games were always rarer and harder to come by, so always felt special getting to play them. Haven't really played any of the newer ones yet.

Enemies replaced by harder versions, enemies do more damage, more enemies in some places, new attacks for the bosses, most tomatoes replaced by drinks so there's less health recovery... it's a much more challenging game.

I've always enjoyed the games, but as I play more of them and I see the same elements reused over and over I'm increasingly unimpressed.
They suffer from the problem a lot of Nintendo series have where it feels like the same game being made over and over and over again.
It doesn't help that the more challenging, fun modes usually require multiple playthroughs to experience, making every concept feel even more well-tread.

I still like them a lot, but as the years go by I find them falling out of my replay rotation.

Ignore the replies, they're assholes.
I actually remember what my first proper (aka non-licensed) game was, NSMB on DS. I remember being okay for the first few levels, but then struggling hard after World 1's first tower, and World 2 basically filtered 5-y/o me and I just kept replaying the first few levels until I finally felt confident enough to buckle down and learn the game. And don't get me started on Mario Kart DS, it took me til I was 8 before I could get my first Gold Cup in 100cc.

My point being, the dicks above don't actually remember what they were like the first time they played a game. Most people don't, really.

I'm not a fan of those since they rely too much on bullet-hell to be any kind of challenging.

Kirbys Dream Land and Kirbys Adventure are decent games. Too easy and I think Adventure is just a little too long for how little it has to offer in terms of level design but fun enough games. Super Star is the only truly good Kirby game, I don't know how they've never managed to capture the essence of that game again. The rest fucking blow, especially Dream Land 3.

Too easy yeah very cute but loses appeal to me, I prefer the Mario & Megaman games for the higher difficulty.
