I played D2 on the Dreamcast and really enjoyed it. The snowy setting is pure sovl, the enemy design is totally weird in a good sense, the plot increasingly feels like a schizo movie and I really like the music too. I also liked that I had to hunt animals to get meat as a healing item. These days when it’s too hot outside, I ride the snowmobile through the map and instantly feel better. Does /vr/ has any opinion on this game?

I never played D2, but D is my fave horror game ever. Kenji Eno was a madman, but he was also a genius.

I played this game like 20 years ago by burning it to 8 CD-Rs. That's all I can remember so fuck this game.

My wife bought it when she was in highschool. We still have her copy. She likes it. I've always found her fascination with b-tier horror games interesting.

I own D on PC from back in the day. It's okay. I never thought it was worth the time to beat it.

This, the first D, and Enemy Zero have been on my backlog forever. What I've seen of D2 looks right up my alley.

Those fucking moose and elk are hard to hit, man. Also you don't get XP from beating bosses, do you?

Yeah, its hard to hunt as Laura has very shaky hands. But I don’t hold it against her, because I know that the huge portable meat cooler she carries around all the time probably throws her off balance.

You need to talk to kimberly again, then leave the cabin and a cutscene involving the plane should play

How hard is it to make Enemy Zero work on a shitty Win7 machine? GOG release never ever?

Works just fine on win7. It's four fucking discs though, because of all of the cutscenes, also ignore the community patch 2.1 as it has an unresolved disc swap bug

I really like the original D, but D2 just feels off. It feels like I downloaded and played some alpha build of a cancelled game off of Hidden Palace rather than something that actually came out. Sometimes its a point n click adventure, sometimes its a weird Shenmue-esque game where you just walk around and talk to characters, sometimes its a really bad shooter, sometimes its a survival game, and sometimes you just walk forward through a huge and empty snow covered field. The story is somehow nonexistent but incoherent at the same time. None of these elements are deep enough to make an impression and none of it ties together. And then it ends with some weird AIDS PSA?????

It's not a bad game, but it's not all that interesting either it's just kind of an oddity that exists and was somehow shipped. I know the game had a rough development and I'm a lot more interested in the original version that was supposed to come out for the cancelled 3DO M2. I'm not sure why they scrapped that story and setting for this one, it seemed a lot more fleshed out and just better than what ended up coming out. Plus it would have tied into the original game which this game just doesn't do at all.

One of my favorite Dreamcast games, it makes little sense, but it’s a fun ride somehow. One of the few games where you really need to buy a legitimate US copy to get the experience in English, since burning a trillion CD-R’s is just fucked.

I can absolutely understand and even respect this take, anon. Some of your criticisms were actually strengths for me. I liked the genre mix and also moving around the map, i dont think it feels empty for me, i would say desolate. Everytime i start to feel to alone i can Talk to the npcs or go chill with them hares. Im a sucker for snowy maps and found my comfy zone in this game. This overshadows the downsides for me.

3DO (2) D2 would’ve interested me too, looks like a completely different game. But there’s not really much info about it.

There's GDEmu now though. You can play almost every dreamcast game's GDI rip for half the cost of most games. I think there's a few things that don't work but D2 worked perfect
