has anyone tried this yet? I hear a lot of mixed things but it looks really unique and cool. Any moonfags or onion games fans out there that can give me a good rundown? also moon/onion general ig.

Memetale before memetale, a "clever" and "quirky" "rpg"

The mother games are the only games that did it right.

You gotta be in the mood for a slow burn with this team's games, but I really enjoyed Chu Lip and Moon.

It's called a "parody RPG" but it's not a RPG at all

It's more of a point&click game with a timer

I love it but it has the flaws of Point&click games, you will get stuck and probably read a guide

I thought it was pretty good. The story, visuals, and music are all great.
The closest game I can compare it to would be Majora's Mask, but even that's not entirely right. There's no combat, and the it plays like a series of fetch quests with puzzles here and there. Everything is tied to a global timer, so you need to take note of what happens where and when either by word of mouth or by witnessing it yourself.

My only issue with it was that there's scaling options for the PC version. It's 8:7 internally but displays at 4:3, like it did on PS1, but there's no interpolation so the uneven pixels and shimmering can be annoying sometimes.

I watched a partial playthrough of Moon because someone said it inspired Majora's Mask. I gotta say it's a charming game. Regarding the comparison between Moon and MM, I can kinda see some similarities, but it's not as glaring as I think I expected based on some anon's post.

Played the whole thing on Switch when it came out, here are some quick thoughts:

The Good:
>Incredibly charming characters, world and art
>Collecting discs to make your own soundtrack is awesome
>World clock makes things feel very dynamic and alive
>Divisive but highly memorable ending

The Bad:
>Progression and puzzles are fairly straightforward in the first half, then devolves into total bullshit trial and error pixel hunt nonsense with literally zero hints or advice. No excuse for this shit. Stand at this part of the map at this time of day then do XYZ level stuff just to advance. Use a guide if you're stuck.
>A horrendously long memory matching puzzle
>Tim Rogers translation suffers from his usual le quirky schtick. Lots of "heck" and "crikey" since those are his favourite words on Twitter.

Overall its a mixed bag. Great art, music, world etc but a mediocre game. Memorable for sure but the games it inspired are superior. If someone said it was one of their all-time favourite games I just would not believe them in the slightest.

Chibi Robo is probably the height of the Love-De-Lic formula.

I love point and clicks, but putting a timer on them just sounds miserable. You tend to get stuck in those games often trying to figure out what to do to advance. Last thing I need is for the game to kill me off for not figuring out a (literal) moon logic puzzle within a time limit.

After the first like hour of the game the time limit is a non-issue.

Undertale and Deltarune are both great and fun experiences. Must be terrible to suffer from such crippling contrarianism that you can't recognize objective reality.

I've played their other game, the one about saving space critters stuck in an apartment building. That one is pretty neat if you're in a mood for something laid back, preferably in the dead hours of the night.

There's something funny about people who despise games about being kind

Damn I feel like if I had played this as a kid would’ve been a favorite but now, I don’t think I’d have the patience.

Didn't play Deltarune but Undertale is fucking overrated as fuck, linear and short only popular because it's 2deep4u and people want to fuck half of the cast
>>11861134
Who said anything about being kind? Being a shitty preachy game doesn't change the fact you're still shitty.
And you didn't read my posts were I said mother did it right? Of course I don't except memetale secondaries to touch an actual rpg

Moon is a game that benefits greatly if you go in with zero expectations (which the youtube retard crow made sure will never happen again, ironically). I half-agree with the anons that said that it's KINDA like Majora's Mask in the sense that the world around you has a set routine that you can alter little by little each day, but while that game has a very obvious sense of urgency, Moon is more about getting to know and care for the people around you while making lots of room for disappointment.

It's artsy by design, a slow burn, and imbued with a very Japanese sense of humor and irony (the real stuff, not the cookie cutter shit from western indies). It's more about creating little moments and exploring all the big and small forms that love can take (srsly). You need to engage with it on those terms or you're gonna hate the shit out of it.

> Nintendrones get filtered by this masterpiece and call it tedious jank but when Majora's Mask has the exact same gameplay loop but worse, they praise it as a stroke of genius and invent countless schizo headcanon theories about the story
