What are the best Amiga games? What games are better on Amiga than they are on other platforms? Are there any Amiga exclusive video games?

Yeah just saying because of the Walk in the Park thread going on right now. Lemmings is a good Amiga game, started on Amiga at least. I didn't make the connection until this thread, but that explains why there's a reference to it at the end of the animation.
Anonymous No.11858279 [Report]
>>11858270
Apparently the guy who drew that is a total Amiga autist, still using one daily to this day, and did animations for Amiga games and I think even Animaniacs according to those threads. I guess that explains why one of the newer alternate OSes you can use for Amiga had a cat woman for it's logo.

Jaguar is shit.
And Lotus 1 should be on there too, it's more bare bones than the sequels but it has a unique feel that the others could never quite recreate.

Can't believe you got filtered by Jaguar.
Lotus 1 started the series, but the sequels did everything better in my opinion.

"Diskette" was a brand name for floppy disks sold by IBM, and it was extremely common for some foreign languages to copy IBM terminology for computers instead of coming up with its own words. For example, up until 2010s it was very common for older people to refer to any hard drive in Russian as "Winchester", in honor of a specific IBM minicomputer hard drive from the 1970s.

And did anyone in Russia give a shit about Amiga?
Anonymous No.11860949 [Report]
>>11860919
Probably not. We jumped from homemade Speccy clones to IBM PC compatibles pretty soon. There were some enthusiasts, of course, but they were a minority. I once encountered a 1996 magazine disk for ZX Spectrum in a TOSEC romset, which had instructions on how to emulate it on PC or Amiga if you didn't have a Speccy.

People usually ask this after playing a bad snes/genesis port on Amiga but yes the blitter made it a bit slow for console action games but yes even some action games turned out better on Amiga while stuff like adventure style games the Amiga is more suited to. A couple I can think of.

James Pond 1 Genesis, 512k vs 880k floppy, missing copper effects and some graphics/sounds.
Sword of Sodan - graphics reduced in size on genesis but it runs smoother
Galahad - better in some areas and extra content
Toki, Pac Mania - graphics

Theres a lot of games like this sprinkled within the Amigas library, the blitter should just be used to update the graphics outside the viewable area the way the consoles do it but people just didn't know until later. Yes Amiga got a lot of low frame rate action games compared to consoles.

>>11858689
Not that Chaos engine is bad on gen/snes, the type of game is just more suited to Amiga. Jag XJ220 is pretty cool on Mega Cd though.

Anonymous No.11861107 [Report] >>11861110 >>11861768
>>11861097
I don't think it's possible considering many, many crack releases out there, especially for C64. Some of these even fixed bugs the developers left in the game.
Anonymous No.11861110 [Report]
>>11861107
The emulator just needs to support them, you can use cracked games as the ROM you just need to specify the checksum when you develop the cheevos

>Jag XJ220 is pretty cool on Mega Cd though.
Core Design was the only third party Western developer who saw potential in Mega CD hardware beyond the disc drive. They did some cool games on Amiga, but it feels like they finally got a chance to fulfil their ambitions on Sega's addon.

Silkworm
SWIV
Q-Bic (All 3 above made by the same author btw)
Turrican 1 & 2 absolute amigakino must play, sort of Megaman but cooler
Katakis good R-Type ripoff (brutally hard, analog turbo controller required)
Twintris best Tetris game ever made imo
Moonstone total kino must-play
Datastorm probably the coolest Defender clone that exists
Battle Squadron excellent 2-player Shmup that somehow fit on one 880 KB disk
Black Crypt Amiga exclusive Dungeon Crawler, supposedly good (I haven't gotten around to trying yet)

Amiga audio and music usually excelled when compared with some DOS/console ports. Some examples include Hired Guns, Road Rash, Fate of Atlantis, Monkey Island 2, Wing Commander.
Anonymous No.11863575 [Report] >>11863597

Fate of Atlantis and Monkey Islands did support Roland MT-32 though. Sure, for 90% of contemporaneous gamers Amiga versions probably did have better music, but if you had the cash, PC was superior.
