Too bad the US version was censored for scenes that depicted smoking, some violence, and Japanese letters.
Yet they did not remove the scene with the naked breasts.

The "enhanced" versions of DotT and Full Throttle have pasty, amateurish artwork but you can still play them with the original visuals so they're ok as stable versions for modern systems if for some reason you don't want to use ScummVM. Also they include unlockable production art galleries and dev commentary iirc, so some may be interested in that.

The enhanced Grim Fandango is slightly more interesting since it adds actual point-and-click controls.

Phrasing what you don't know as what "nobody" knows is a good indication of just how much you do care about what everybody thinks.

Anhway, the "remasters" operate on the reasonable assumption that the work of skilled artists working under heavy technical constraints, interpreted by obviously less skilled artists but with no (or less) limitations, may average as an acceptable result. And acceptable it is; but the key is in your "can't get much closer" remark >>11861178. That's your opinion. Mine is that it could, but it didn't need to, precisely because my standards, like yours, are not universal; meaning that though I wouldn't buy the game, somebody else would.

I really like the Grim remaster for several reasons:
- it fixes the game breaking bug in the lift that features on modern systems without fan fixes
- I honestly think it plays better as a P&C with the exception of some sections
- The higher res backgrounds are needed due to it being a 3D game with now ultra crispy visuals

In terms of the other LA remasters, the MI ones were interesting, just as they had different art, the ability to switch and the dev commentary.

With Full Throttle and DOTT, there's not much you could get from them that didn't exist with the overlays from SCUMMVM already.

I got these in a double White Label budget box and loved them both. Probably my first P&Cs.

In terms of which one made me laugh more it's a hard call, but I think Sam & Max narrowly clinches it.

yeah this. if you don't like the art (which I don't know why you wouldn't as it looks fine and isn't a "lookin good!" situation where they just plastered a shader over it, they redrew it all.) then you can either play the original or play the remaster with the original art.
