Armored Core is literally weakness fantasy. 30th century humanoid machines with worse visibility and mobility than a 1980s british tank. At least they can fly I guess. A little bit.

This game naturally filters anyone not willing to adhere to its rules and expect it to play like any other third-person shooter, they then act like it's the game which is at fault.

Armored Core is easy except for its final level which is harder than any FromSoft boss

Why *doesn't* it play like any other third person shooter? The purpose of mechs is to give human-like mobility for the pilot. If they handle like tanks with jetpacks, what's the point?

Because other third person shooters are not a vehicle customisation game based around juggling statistics with environments which will impact your machine's performance. Also:
>mechs
Anyone who uses this term can have their opinion discarded.

Mech has been the Western term for at least since the 80s, weeb zoomie.
That's what everyone playing BattleTech calls them.

Should I give 2 a go if I didn't really like gen 1 that much? I beat all three 100% though so I guess I DID enjoy them enough to do this but still aside from their nice atmosphere I find them to be nothing special

Not really. AC2 is just kinda Gen 1 with "nicer" graphics (I personally think it looks uglier than the PS1 games) The next major leap in the AC series might be Nexus but AC3 also shakes things up slightly.

The fun comes from playing the game blind and experimenting with different parts, it's not a game you're supposed to have a 100% perfect linear run on the first time you play it. Think of RPG progress except individual stats actually mean something and your experience isn't something which is instantly relayed through selecting a command, you have to actually learn to play well to yield that ability.

Just skip the Nineballs, that's what I did on my first playthrough. If you're going for 100%, then you can bait both of them at the bottom for easy kills.

Bait them, but be quick because if they get down into that enclosed space you're fucked. It's like trying to get an aggressive wasp out of your house.
