ITT: Times you went from "This game is cool. Why it isn't more popular?" to ""Oh, that's why it isn't more popular."
For me such game is Septerra Core. Cool setting but once you play more the sluggish combat gets annoying quickly and the game often surfer from "where the fuck I'm suppose to go now?" problem.

A 15-hour game becomes a 35-hour chore because combat is ultra slow.

Same thing with Anachronox. Game with really cool setting ruined by sluggish combat and annoying minigames.

The trick to those minigames is to get the expert skill level as quickly as possible. Though not all expert skills make solving the minigames easier. IIRC Stiletto's expert skill doesn't make her coin toss easier.

I would have agreed with you, but the pacing swerves into molasses on Disc 2.
If you don't know the exact solution to every puzzle in advance, you can very easily end up wandering back and forth through the mansion trying to figure out what you're supposed to be doing. (I hope you didn't miss the map!) The game is already easy and you can get seriously overleveled doing this without trying.
Disc 2 is also when the inventory limit rears its ugly head, and it is TINY. I hate having to throw out shit I need just to make room for shit I need even more. There isn't even a separate category for key items.

Kouldelka herself is a great character, she's really cute, but I struggle to imagine having much fun with her game without using a guide or having already beaten it before.

It's one of those games you play for the atmosphere, I guess. Helps that it's really short for an RPG, I think I beat it in ~9 hours my first time through? It was over before I had time to get irritated with the combat.
