The DS and PSP deserve a spot in the /vr/ pantheon. They have everything in common with 6th, 5th, and even 4th generation design philosophies and are 7th generation in name only. I get why and agree that the home consoles should never be allowed here, but why not these? Why is SotN okay and not Dawn of Sorrow? What makes Chains of Olympus not /vr/ while I and II get by? I accept my ban

You already had one thread to discuss this, don't get too uppity and euphoric yet.

Yeah but that thread was a low-effort slide thread started by someone even younger than me and probably just underage. This is an actual discussion thread where I provide reasons they should be allowed

The PSP was like a PS1 on steroids with a PS2 rasterizer while the DS 3D engine was like a weird upgraded GBA sprite engine. Both handhelds are much closer to 6th gen than anything that came afterwards, in terms of both tech and game library.

Your system boots into an OS interface and not straight into the game? Not retro.

Philosophy as well. Unlike the PS3 or 360, the open-world cinematic full online action game was a nonexistent genre on these. They're also obviously not HD consoles. You're not gonna find minutes at a time of mocapped cutscenes or serious attempts at realism above moment to moment gameplay. The DS and Lite especially was the last console that was truly pick up and play. You could configure it to instantly launch your game with no startup or menu to navigate, something that became unheard of after. Overall I see no reason they shouldn't be /vr/

I was typing out this exact point when you said that. The system menu is the one big thing the PSP has in common with its bigger brother

The XMB interface was on PS2 first (via PSX.)

The instant you add the DS and PSP is the instant you invite
>Why can't I talk about this, it came out before these DS and PSP games
And then now you have all of 7th gen discussed here.
>This won't happen
It happened with the GBA being added and then the rest of 6th gen being added. It will happen here as well. Then the argument in the future will be:
>But the 3DS and Vita have more in common with the previous gen than 8th
I don't see why /vr/ should be one of the few, if only, boards to always change for outsiders rather than them adapting to the content of the board.

If the DS and PSP is let in then 7th gen will be let in thus the 3DS and Vita will be let in thus 8th gen will be let in. Stopping the PSP and DS from being discussed here is where the line in the sand should be drawn. They aren't on topic. If you want to use /vr/ then play the thousands of games that are allowed. If you want the DS and PSP then you have to accept the PS4, Xbox One, and WiiU. It will come, no matter how much you want to deny it. Won't be today, won't be five years from now, but it'll come.

Actually serious response, I like how you mention change for outsiders like wanting to talk about Contra 4 is at all equivalent to boards like /b/, /pol/, /r9k/, or /k/ being absolutely wrecked by pedophiles, normies, underage girls, and brown geopolitical shitflingers. There's a clear line of demarcation here; no home consoles. That means no HD and no true online in general, and also covers more vague bases like COD controls and volume of cinematic

Random board. Anything can be discussed. It is also the moderation that can't keep up with cleaning the board.
>/pol/
Is made so they could eventually make a /news/ board that can be for news rather than devolving into whatever /pol/ started out and ended up as. /pol/ has always been a containment board.
>/r9k/
Sadly some changes were made for outsiders like the robot refreshing more often and you can't post the same image. Otherwise /r9k/ is just an anything goes board with a bot that prevents the same thing said from being posted.
>/k/
I never browsed /k/ to know what it was like.
