Get over its framerate issues and its high difficulty curve and it's a racing game unlike any other. Play on manual too. There was a later revision that contains numerous improvements but is also a total rebalance in terms of control and difficulty.

This and Tourist Trophy are as good as it gets, nothing else on these systems come close. Although I'll give XG3 a pass for having hype ass music.
